As 2020 came to an end, I started looking for more activities to challenge myself mentally and physically. I felt very unmotivated (as most people were in a pandemic), and 2021 was my excuse to turn that around!
My sister Angela and I started the My Sister Knows Why Podcast, which is all about answering questions and discussing topics that aren’t common knowledge among the average joe. We recently did an interview with Nikkei Voice for their March Edition, which was such an amazing experience! The podcast began to get the ball rolling for the motivation train, and that’s when I enrolled in the Marketing Management Program at Sheridan College.
At the beginning of 2021, I also got back into crocheting and sold some of my products. My best friend Sarah, who started her own small jewelry business, inspired me to try it out. I always push myself to try new designs, create my own designs, and improve my stitch work.
Finally, I need to address the elephant in the room… or should I say the dog in the room. Millie is the newest edition to the Tanabe family, and she is a hoot! She is almost six months old and she is huge. We haven’t had a big dog in the family yet, so we are excited to see what comes from this new experience.
I’m not exactly sure where I will end up in life, but if 2020 has taught me anything, it’s to enjoy what you have and don’t take advantage of anything or anyone! Every day I have something to look forward to, whether it’s research for a new podcast episode, a new animal I’m crocheting or the “Millie Monster” waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs when I get out of bed. One takeaway I hope you get out of this is to try something new, fail at it and enjoy the process.
